Horizontals – weft

Thinking about stripy things in textiles, home wares, and architecture.

Designer Agnes B only ever does stripes in a particular measurement – 1.2/1.2cm or 6/6cm.  They can be elegant or a bit edgy depending on the colour mix.

Horizontal thoughts reminded me to share an image of one of the most beautiful churches in Northern Italy, Basilica di San Zeno, Verona.

Remember when Madonna caused all sorts of upset with her neighbours by painting her wall in cream and crimson stripes?  Well the stripes were inspired by a 10th century church in Portofino, Italy, called St Martins, similar Romanesque style to San Zeno.
