South Yarra Library

I do go on about Yuncken Freeman. Most of my favourite buildings in Melbourne were designed by this group of architects.

Including the beautiful South Yarra Library.

The 1973 black box concept was built using steel column supports and large sheets of tinted glass. Light and etherial. All very refined. It’s a great library to sit in. A beautiful reading box.

And the interiors weren’t too shabby either.
