Crazy Stones in St Kilda

There should be a law for all public toilet blocks to be designed by architects. This one was designed by Wood Marsh Architects in 1993 for $60,000.

It is both sculptural (public art) and functional (public toilet).

The wonderful stone work intersects with the delicate canopy of curved steel.

My one problem is with the siting. It’s jammed up against a glass conservatory.

I’d much prefer to see it placed in the middle of the gardens, framed by a couple of grand trees, to be seen from the distance as an idyllic landscape.

I know it’s a toilet block but…
